Is it just me! Turin 2006 vs. American Idol and Dancing with the Stars.
Should singing and dancing be a part of the New Olympics? Did the U.S. just vote off Bode Miller or did they add Partying to their event roster?
I thought singing , dancing and partying were things we did after we won. What happened to the pursuit, the dream , the pride. Have we become a society of "little league" where you get a trophy for just showing up. I am Canadian but I am also a Proud North American and the belittling being brought out by the media suggests to me that if we aren't winning lets" Gumble the OLympics". A Sunday New york Times article by Alessandra Stanley suggests just this type of malaise has become the Olympics. NBC is suffering from the "agony of defeat" not because of their "reality makeovers" It is we the people who are suffering when we can't see the difference of an orchestrated for prime time reality show versus the greatness which is the heart and soul of the Olympic dream. Has been celebrities getting the spotlight over the new fresh faces of the struggle and endurance to be an Olympic champion. Do we want to go for the Gold in Sport or glorify the entertainment industry once again.
Is it just me or is my definition of hero and role model being scewed by the publicity machinations that make their celebrity, their show more real than what is real!!!!!
I am moved by greatness and what has evolved here is not great. Where is the passion , the spirit, the pursuit of a dream . If you missed it it was in Italy and if you want it look towards Canada, Vancouver in 2010. This is the truth of my reality.
